Research in the McKain Lab focuses on understanding how genome evolution gives rise to species diversity. We use a combiation of phylogenomics and comparative genomics to explore the interaction between adaptation and genome structure. A primary diving interest of the lab is how polyploidy plays a role in the evolution of novel phenotypes and species diversification.
